About MeMy name is Lisa.
I currently teach social studies and science in a middle school. The classroom that I teach in is for students who have emotional disabilities. Often times, this means that lesson plans need to be tailored to the class. It can be difficult because we have students from 4th through 8th grade. Somehow I have to keep them all engaged and make sure that they all learn something. |
More about me |
I have more or less found myself being in the teaching field by accident.
I have my BA in European History from University of Hawaii at Manoa, my Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University. In high school I often tutored Japanese and Math to high school peers. In college I worked as a tutor for Math, English, Japanese, and English as a Second Language. I also taught violin for several years. After moving to Maryland, the first job I obtained was to be a driving instructor. I continue to teach driver's education, but my job that I love is teaching social studies and science at the middle school level. I am posting lessons here in hopes to get feedback on lesson ideas. Also, hoping that I may be able to be helpful to other beginning teachers out there, or for those who want to have their kiddos work a little extra on certain topics. |
